FOR OUR
COMMUNITY
CHILDREN'S BOOK PROJECT
Every year we collect books and donations for the book project.  In the spring we give
about 200 books to Kindergarten students in Taylor.  We would like to see this project
expand to other towns in our area.

      SCHOLARSHIP
Every year our scholarship committee works with an area school counselor to select a
graduating senior who is planning to major in Education.  In June we present the
recipient with a $500 scholarship.

COMMUNITY VOLUNTEER SERVICES
WCRTA encourages members to volunteer in the community.  At the June luncheon we
recognize the member who serves the most hours.  Local unit hours are recorded and
sent to TRTA in January.  TRTA presents the governor with a check representing the
dollar value of the hours TRS retirees have donated.  It is useful when lobbying
legislators.
