What We Are About

The Williamson County Retired Teachers Association (WCRTA) works for the benefits and interests of retired school employee  in Williamson County, Texas. 


 If you have retired  -  or are planning to retire  -  from the public education community, we hope you'll find the information on this site useful and look forward to seeing you at a meeting or program in the near future.  



Meeting schedule for 2025-2026

WCRTA celebrates their 55th Anniversary!! 1971-2026

Mrs. Estelle Stapp, after having been a member of the Austin Retired Teachers Unit for two years and being elected the District 13 president, was interested

 in organizing a Unit in Georgetown. She contacted over 75 retired teachers around the county. She wrote a letter to the State Director in Waco, 

Mrs. Mamie Stricker, who said she would take care of everything. 


The meeting was held on February 24, 1971 and the Williamson County 

Retired Teachers Unit was organized. The following officers were elected: President, Mrs. Estelle Stapp; First Vice President, Mr. Gordon Burke; 2nd Vice President, Mrs. Margaret Winterrowd; Secretary, Mrs. Velma Deison; 

and Treasurer, Mrs. Mary E. Hairston. 

There were 32 members at the end of the first year.
